Liquid Controls flow meters are precision instruments that measure the flow of liquids through pipes or dispensing systems. They are used in a wide range of industries and environments, including mining, industrial, manufacturing, agriculture, transportation, automotive, and aerospace. At Grohall, we carry a selection of LC liquid flow meters and products, including fuel flow meters, digital flow meters, diesel fuel flow meters, and more. Here is a look inside LC’s flow meters and how they work.
Liquid Controls Positive Displacement Flow Meters
Liquid Controls positive displacement flow meters are carefully designed and engineered to maintain a lifetime of precise and accurate fluid metering and dispensing. They offer precise, controlled liquid measurement in custody-transfer and process-control applications. They can be installed in pump or gravity flow systems. Their simple design and compact structure make them easy to maintain and highly adaptable to a wide variety of systems and environments.
Components of Liquid Flow Meters
LC liquid flow meters have a meter housing with three cylindrical bores. Three rotors, a blocking rotor and two displacement rotors, turn within the bores to create synchronized movement. The rotors are supported by bearing plates. The ends of the rotors protrude through the bearing plates, and the rotor head and displacement rotor gear are at the end of the displacement rotors.
How the Flow Meters Work
As fluid moves through the housing, the rotor assembly turns. The liquid is displaced into uniform sections of the rotor’s cavities. As additional fluid enters the meter, the measured fluid is displaced and pushed out of the meters. The same volume of liquid passes through the meter at each rotation, and the volume of each bore is known, so it is easy to calculate the liquid flow volume with a high degree of accuracy.
Reduced Wear and Tear and Enhanced Durability
These flow meters are available in aluminum, stainless steel, brass, and cast iron. They are designed to be highly durable and easy to maintain, ensuring reduced wear and tear due to limited metal-to-metal contact inside the measuring chamber. Because the liquid flowing through the meter exerts a dynamic force at right angles to the displacement rotor faces and the rotor shafts are always in a horizontal position, there is no axial thrust and the meters do not need thrust washers or thrust bearings. This eliminates the wear and tear between the rotor ends and bearing plates.
Accuracy Counts
Liquid Controls flow meters offer the most sustainable accuracy of any meter in its class. Due to zero wear and tear and no metal-to-metal contact, the measuring chamber can sustain maximum accuracy retention over time, which means fewer calibrations and a longer lifespan. Their unique construction means superior performance and reduced demand on system pumps, minimal load on bearings, and high performance in forwards or reverse flow.
