History of Emco Wheaton

Emco Wheaton has a rich, century-long history in the fluid transfer systems industry. The company was formed in the merger of two businesses: Wheaton Petroleum Valves, founded in Newark, NJ in 1892; and The Empire Manufacturing Company, founded in London, Canada in 1903. Since 1927, Emco Wheaton has been designing and manufacturing petroleum valves, nozzles, couplings, refueling couplers, and more. In 1995, the company was acquired by Sytone PLC, a UK-based company that produces tank truck equipment, marine loading equipment, and more. In 2004, Sytone was acquired by Gardner Denver of Quincy, IL, and in 2013, Gardner Denver was purchased by KKR. In 2020, KKR merged with Ingersoll Rand, and Emco is proud to be part of the Ingersoll Rand family of brands today.
